1915-1916 City Marshal Appointment Document

Early 20th Century World War I 1915-1916 City Marshal Appointment Document.

This hand written document is signed by the Mayor of Watseka, Iroquois County, Illinois appointing Thomas A. Harper as a City Marshal for a period of one year: 1 May 1915-1 May 1916. It is signed by the Mayor Claude N. Saum (a noted lawyer of the time) and recorded by the City Clerk, Arthur H. Gehl.

It measures 8-1/4 by 14 inches high.

The condition is generally very good, with some wear and tear at the margins and corners from age, as shown. It should be easily concealable by proper matting and framing.

This heavy custom die badge with no maker marks. It is flat.  It is numbered with a deep machine stamped 2838 on an applied disk on the back. The lettering is RAISED on the face of the badge.

This heavy plated badge set with no maker marks. Both are slightly vaulted and has separately applied numbers 517.

This is the patch front and rear. It measures 5-1/4 by 4-1/2 inches.

This is a newer issue than the badge above, dating to the mid 20th century and assigned to the same career policeman.

Here is a view of the back of the badges. The breast badge measures 2-1/4 by 2-1/2 inches high. It has a hinged pin and simple hook closure. The cap badge has a screw post attachment.

This is a very heavy gold plated custom die badge with no maker marks. It has three stars in lieu of a number and the name WALTER CHOJNACKI on the lower banner.  The Chojnacki family has a long history of service to the Buffalo City PD.

This is a  2-1/2 x 2 Inch 1938 Dated OBSOLETE Kansas City Missouri Private Police Badge. 

The central shield is separately applied and there is blue lettering and has the low number "370". This is an overall view of the back of the badge. It has a simple pad applied hook catch.

Private police were employed as stockyard and strike breakers. They were not a law enforcement agency.

It has a BEST STAMP Co.K. maker mark.

This is a  1-1/2 x 2-1/2 Inch mid-20th Century OBSOLETE Leroy Kansas Police Officer Badge. 

The Kansas coat of arms central disk is separately applied. This is an overall view of the back of the badge.

There is a hinged round pin with safety rotor catch.

This is a  1 x 1-1/2 Inch 1930s Depression Era OBSOLETE Marion Pennsylvania Fire Police Badge. 

The central disk is separately applied and has the State of Pennsylvania coat of arms. This is an overall view of the back of the badge.

The pin is a separately applied safety rotor catch assembly with a 1936 patent number.

The condition is near excellent throughout

Middlebury Vermont Special Police Badge

This is a  1 x 1-1/2 Inch 1930s Depression Era OBSOLETE Middlebury Vermont Special Police Numbered Badge. 

The badge is numbered with a low number "9" on the central lozenge. This is an overall view of the back of the badge.

The pin is a separately applied safety rotor catch assembly with a 1936 patent number.

This heavy nickel die-struck badge with separately applied numbers and no apparent maker mark. It is slightly vaulted and has hinged pin closure that is missing the simple hook catch.

This is an early to mid-20th century 2-1/8 x 2-3/4 Inch OBSOLETE City of New York Detective blue enamel and gilt die cast badge.

This is a difficult to find intact badge.

This is an overall view of the back of the badge. It has the typical thin lug NYPD integral pin catch connectors for using a safety pin to attach it to the uniform tunic. It has a JOHNSON N.Y NATIONAL maker mark stamped in the center of the back, just below the shield.

The condition is very good to near excellent with some routine wear to the deep blue enamel, as evident in the images.

This is an early to mid-20th century 2-1/8 x 2-3/4 Inch OBSOLETE City of New York Detective blue enamel and gilt die struck badge.

This is a difficult to find intact badge.

This is an overall view of the back of the badge. It has the typical thick lug NYPD integral pin catch connectors for using a safety pin to attach it to the uniform tunic. It has no maker marks apparent.

The condition is near excellent with very little routine wear to the high spots of the gilt emblem.  The deep blue enamel us remarkably intact, as evident in the images.

This is an early to mid-20th century 1-7/8 x 2 Inch OBSOLETE City of New York Detective blue enamel and gilt CUT badge.

This is a difficult to find badge.

This badge was cut when it was taken out of service and crudely reassembled for collecting purposes many years ago.  It has a partial separately applied numbers (2_04) remaining.

This is an overall view of the back of the badge. It has the typical NYPD integral pin catch connectors for using a safety pin to attach it to the uniform tunic.

The condition is near fair, evident in the images.

Norwalk Connecticut City Police Department Badge

This die struck shield badge has no maker mark. It was hand stamped to apply the letters to the banners, and there are separately applied numbers 114 on the front.

This is a very old badge, dating to the early 20th century. It has had the hook replaced at one point, long ago.

This die struck custom die shield badge with castle surmount has no maker mark. It has glossy black enamel banners and gilt letters on the front.

This is an old badge, dating to the mid 20th century (about WWII). The gilt badge measures approximately 2 inches in diameter.
